Debra in North Epping who writes about her son’s progress from ADHD

I would like to share with you a miracle with my youngest son Jack. By eliminating harmful numbers from our environment, house and food my son’s behaviour has become much calmer, he is so much easier to handle. The main difference that we welcomed was that Jack was diagnosed a classic ADHD with major learning difficulties (not that I ever put him in that box) and this is the first time that anything alternative had actually made a huge difference for him. Julia From NZ, deals with Eczema

My son was 15 months old when he developed eczema and we found more than anything else man- made chemicals were more to blame than any natural foods.
We were given a tool to deal with the eczema, which then allowed us to eliminate and experiment with the foods and chemical products in our environment. Read the full article

Michael from Melbourne deals with their sons Hyperactivity

This is a fantastic life changing book. I was beginning to think my son had psychological problems when a friend recommended The Chemical Maze to me. I now have a perfectly ?normal? four year old, providing I monitor his food.
We have just had a weekend away with two other families who were handing out all sorts of ?bad? food to the children and I was having trouble keeping it away from my son, Read the full article

Karen Fox, who writes about a pregnancy hazard

I would like to let you know about a choice I made lately and after using your guide I am so thankful that I did so. As part of my pregnancy care, I was recommended to have a blood test to check for diabetes. The test involves being given a sickly sugary green drink as a glucose challenge on my body to see if I could get my sugar level back down to normal within one hour (when I had blood taken). Rae who writes about taking back responsibility for her and her family’s life

Our lives changed rather dramatically when one day my husband came waltzing in the front door with The Chemical Maze tucked firmly under his arm. At first I found the whole thing just terrifying and then, very depressing. I kept thinking about all the really bad stuff I’d been consuming and using over my thirty-odd years of life. Peter Pearson who writes about The Chemical Maze as a supporting framework

Clearly the only way that people can change their habits and consumer decisions is to understand the decisions, what they are eating and how it affects them. I can say from my experiences, that the most powerful way to be able to understand something is if you have a supporting framework to place one’s experiences. Read the full article

Jacqui Hibberd, Melbourne who writes about how her experiences led to setting up a new business

Since coming into contact with your book ‘ The Chemical Maze,’ I have the desire to share its contents with as many people as possible. I have even donated a copy to the school canteen as they are on a quest, like me, to increase awareness of the products we offer our children.

Emma Dunlop in Victoria who tells us how simple changes in diet can change lives overnight..

In 2004 our son was diagnosed with behavioural problems and we were recommended to have him tested for food intolerance. We were amazed and shocked at the results. Our son was reacting to preservatives, colourings and chemical additives and we had no idea. The doctor who tested our son recommended The Chemical Maze and we have used it ever since. We simply replaced the foods that had additives that reacted with our son.
Our lives changed over night literally.

Michelle who emailed us about the effects of colours, flavour enhancers and preservatives…

The Chemical Maze has dramatically changed both my and my family’s lives. My five year old boy had asthma at night time and we couldn’t work it out. I cut out preservatives and what a miracle – he doesn’t get asthma anymore. He was also a very angry little boy but not now as we have cut out all the colours and flavour enhancers from his diet.
Also, flavour enhancers and colours give my seven year old daughter insomnia and make her angry and moody.

Dilys, who describes dealing with polymyalgia

Through your wonderful book I have discovered that I am allergic/intolerant to several food additives/colours/chemicals, I have had polymyalgia rheumatica for four years and during this time have had days of feeling ill, apart from the arthritis symptons associated with polymyalgia, and I was sure that certain foods were causing this ill feeling, I spoke to three doctors who didn’t believe me so I did my own research, I now have a rheumatologist that believed in what I had to say, he sent me to an allergy specialist and everything was confirmed by a book called “friendly foods for life” written by Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Allergy Unit.

Sue B. in Qld who told us about her outrage at the chemicals in our foods

When my mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and Peritoneal Cancer in March 2005, I went crazy! One year later, after a year in hell, she is in remission.
I came across The Chemical Maze at a Peace Week market in Machans Beach Cairns QLD. This book goes EVERYWHERE with me! Read the full article

Peter in Erina Heights, NSW who highlights a problem with synthetic flavouring.

I just wanted to take the time to let you know that vanillin (used in most chocolates and most ice creams) causes red patches on either side of my nose that flake like dermatitis. This reaction would last for about 3-4 days which made it hard to detect the problem. When I selected ice cream and chocolate products flavoured with natural vanilla there was no reaction, however these products are usually more expensive.
I hope this has been helpful to you and keep up the good work!

Liz in Sunbury, Victoria who writes about dealing with eczema in her children

I would like to start off with thank you. You both probably hear this all the time, but you deserve it!
My son has eczema; it runs in both sides of the family. He was also born 12 weeks premature. He never really developed it until he was about 12 months, but when it came it was getting out of control. I tried everything, but knew nothing about food additives, preservatives and colours. Even the products my doctor prescribed for him to use on his skin were full of those horrible ingredients.

Robin and Geoff in Launceston, Tasmania who highlight health issues withPotassium sorbate and MSG

I have recently been having a couple of health issues. I am a diabetic and I am conscious of my cholesterol, so I went onto Logicol.  It worked really well but at a cost, both in dollars and health. I started having trouble with strange things happening in my throat. While waiting for an appointment to see the ENT specialist, I did some thinking and experimenting.  I realised that the throat thingie and the Logicol all started at the same time. On and off the Logical I went and the throat thing came and went too.

Carly in Goodwood, SA who uses The Chemical Maze in her quest to provide healthier choices for her children

First let me just say a huge Thank-You for researching and writing The Chemical Maze!
I can’t believe all the horrible things I have unknowingly put into and on my body. I started thinking there may be bad things in pesticides (like most, I assumed they were safe, it sounds ridiculous saying that now!) when it was time to start my baby boy on solids. Read the full article

Mary and Peter who write about the possible effects of an icon…

We recently bought The Chemical Maze book and are completely satisfied with our purchase, as you have opened our eyes to the poisons we are exposed to everyday. In 2007, our son was born and both my husband and I made a commitment to each other that our son would not be given any chemicals. This has proven to be of huge benefit to his health and behaviour. We found out recently after feeding him Vegemite how he changes, which was amazing and frustrating to watch. We believed that Vegemite was beneficial for his development, because we were both raised not only to eat it, but we were fully brainwashed by the television commercial.

Dr Ann Fairfax

What a fantastic little book.  I carry it in my bag and when I’m shopping I often refer to it.  I am now much more confident about what I am buying.  I have three little girls and I am concerned about what I feed them.  I really appreciate your efforts in putting this book together.  It is something I had wanted to do myself but now don’t need to!
Many thanks!

Josephine Allison, Melbourne

Thank you for writing such an excellent book. A couple of months ago I stumbled across your book at the South Melbourne market, since then I have purchased dozens of copies and recommended it to various friends and relatives. Having this book in my handbag has enabled me to shop with more confidence and with the knowledge that I am providing my family with safer alternatives. In addition it’s great to see that this terrific little book is appearing in a greater number of retail outlets. Once again thank you and keep up the great work. I will continue to recommend your book to anyone who is willing and interested.

Robyn Hanlon, Toowoomba Qld

I bought your book from my organic fruit shop in Toowoomba. It’s great. I keep it in my bag all the time so that it’s handy when I go shopping.
I have a child who has been diagnosed with ADD and he was always disbelieving when I told him why he shouldn’t eat some things. NOW if he wants something he gets the book out and he won’t eat the things if they’re not safe. AMAZING!! Thankyou!

Julanne, Melbourne

I bought the book today from a chemist in Dandenong Vic. and can’t put it down and I have a friend that will love it. We have been looking for something like this for years. It is easy to read and refer back to. I am going through my cupboard checking out all the packets to get rid of. Thanks for the book and I will refer to the links on your home page.

Charlotte Cudby, Wellington NZ

… Further I am glad to say that I know of three people who will now be purchasing your book. They have now seen the benefits of a chemical free diet, and how easy the book makes grocery shopping. It is interesting that when they first saw how we (myself and my partner) were eating and shopping they mocked us. But when I read some ingredients of their favourite foods they were disgusted.
Thank you again.

Leonard Westwood in Mackay Qld writes about how The Chemical Maze may have saved his life.

Hi Bill,
Please allow me to tell you a positive story, which is also a true story about myself and my family. For the last three years I suffered left temple migraines which only appeared to be in a single point in my head. So I went to a doctor who advised me that my blood pressure was high. He then prescribed an MRI, blood pressure tablets and headache pills. He also mentioned that migraines can be the sign of a reaction to some food types and then gave me a migraine booklet to assist me in finding the answer. Read the full article

Rachel’s daughter seems possessed by a “monster” when she has foods with artificial colours.

Firstly I would like to say thank you for researching and writing such a fantastic and useful book, The Chemical Maze.

In 2008 I moved with my husband and daughter to Brisbane from the UK. After around six months I was having some behavioural issues with my daughter who was four, but it wasn’t consistent. One time we put it down to a fruit cordial she had drunk at a friends and vowed we’d never have it in the house. Read the full article
